Pearland Mayor Kevin Cole Announces Campaign for Brazoria County Judge

PEARLAND, TX – Pearland Mayor Kevin Cole announced today that he will seek election as Brazoria County Judge as a Republican, bringing more than three decades of business, civic, and public service experience to the race. Cole has built a reputation for strategic planning, steady leadership, and hands-on problem solving. As Mayor, he guided Pearland through rapid growth while maintaining a focus on infrastructure, public safety, and responsible fiscal management.

“Making this decision has been a difficult one but I will still focus on and support the efforts in the city I grew up in and love – the City of Pearland,” Cole said. “But I believe God has a new direction for me as I seek the position of County Judge for Brazoria County.”

Cole said his campaign will focus on the core issues that matter most to families and taxpayers across Brazoria County: public safety, infrastructure, flood control, property tax relief, and smart growth. “Brazoria County must be ready for the growth ahead as projects like Highway 99 expand and the population continues to rise. That means improving roads, supporting law enforcement, encouraging job growth, and keeping government transparent and efficient,” he said.

Before serving as Mayor, Cole spent years on the Pearland City Council, beginning his public service on the Planning and Zoning Commission in 1994. He currently serves on the Houston-Galveston Area Council Board of Directors and as 2nd Vice-Chair of the Transportation Policy Council, where he helps guide the distribution of federal funds for major road and infrastructure projects across the region. A graduate of Pearland High School and Texas Tech University, Cole has lived in Brazoria County for 48 years. He and his wife Lisa have been married for 38 years and have four grown children and thirteen grandchildren.

“Brazoria County is growing fast, and we need experienced, principled leadership to meet that challenge,” Cole said. “I have spent my career helping communities plan for the future, and I am ready to put that experience to work for the entire county.”
